InBody 580® much more than the number on the scales

Weight alone does not tell the whole story. InBody 580 is an electrical bioimpedance body composition analyser that measures, in about 30 seconds and without needles, how much of your body is muscle, water, fat and visceral fat, segment by segment (trunk, arms and legs separately). It is a way to measure real progress, from treatment to treatment and consultation to consultation.

InBody 580 device

It is useful if...

  • You want to lose fat and monitor results objectively.
  • You want to gain muscle mass.
  • You are starting a nutrition or longevity plan.
  • You exercise and want to monitor your progress.
  • You are going through menopause and want to understand how your body composition is changing.
  • You want to understand your health beyond the number on the scales.

What it measures

  • Skeletal muscle mass and fat mass, with percentages.
  • Total body water and distribution by segment.
  • Visceral fat (percentage and area), the indicator most closely associated with metabolic risk.
  • Basal metabolic rate (energy expenditure at rest).

How it is used

It can be included in the Nutrition and Integrative Functional Medicine consultations, as a starting point and an objective way to monitor progress through the plan.

It is also available as a standalone assessment for those who simply want to understand their body composition.

Frequently asked questions

Does it hurt or is it invasive?

No. You simply step onto the platform and hold the electrodes for about 30 seconds. The examination is quick, comfortable and non-invasive.

Do I need to prepare?

For more consistent results, we recommend having the examination while fasting or at least 2 to 3 hours after your last meal, avoiding intense physical exercise in the preceding 4 hours and alcohol on the same day.

Is it only for people who want to lose weight?

No. InBody 580® is equally useful for those who want to gain muscle mass, improve sports performance, monitor changes in body composition during menopause or simply monitor their health more precisely.

How often should I repeat it?

It is usually recommended to repeat the assessment every 4 to 6 weeks, allowing real changes in body composition to be monitored and results to be compared consistently.
